We began our great Western adventure on Thursday morning at 8:30. We traveled to Boone, North Carolina to see our niece, Lauren and nephew, Ryan. We traveled around 7 hours today. We were so excited, it didn't seem long at all.
Stayed at the Honey Bear Campground in Boone. It was very close to Ryan's apartment. We really liked the campground. It was rustic and very cool setting in the wooded area. Built a campfire and spent time just getting settled for the night. Lauren and Ryan came over to the campground. Made plans to go tubing the next day.
July 1st - Went tubing with Lauren, Perry, Ryan, Ward, Shannon and Dylan (friends of Lauren and Ryan's). Ward came up for the day and we were thrilled he was able to go with us. Didn't take the camera tubing, so no pics on this day. Had a great time. Went to dinner with the gang and met Perry's parents. Said our good-byes and prepared for our next day of travel.
July 2nd, Saturday - Drove fourteen hours on this day and slept at a rest stop on this day. Not much fun, but made tons of mileage. Made it to Kansas City.
