Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park
Today was a big travel day. Left Jackson Hole and headed for the Grand Tetons about thirty miles from Jackson Hole. Stopped at the Visitors Center and read lots of history about these mountains. Teton came from an Indian word meaning pinnacles. Saw a moose outside of the visitor's center, while driving away.
After driving thru the Grand Teton National Park, we headed into Yellowstone National Park. We took advantage of the rest of our day and spent the afternoon viewing the Geyser Basins on the southwestern portion of the park. Viewed Old Faithful and saw it spew water up into the air. It is amazing to watch this geyser go off. On the way out of the park, we saw two large elk eating grass in the meadow. It is beautiful here and very large. It took us all afternoon to drive one quarter of the park. Yellowstone consist of 2.2 million acres. We also took a scenic drive by a waterfall. I've taken many pictures on this day and the next of Yellowstone.
We ended our day with a drive just outside of the Western entrance to the Yellowstone KOA campground. We ate Rainbow trout for supper and settled by a nice campfire. Had a swing at this campsite. Enjoyed swinging by the fire. We were warned about Bears here, so we did not cook at our site, but opted for the trout at the campground restaurant. Enjoy the pics.
