Sierra National Forrest & South Lake Tahoe

Left our faithful KOA campground in the small town of Coursegold, which was right outside of the South entrance of Yosemite.  Our destination for the day is South Lake Tahoe.  We're going to drive through the Sierra National Forrest in order to get to South Lake Tahoe.  We are only traveling 200 miles today, but it will take us around six hours due to no interstate or freeway.  Only winding mountain roads.  We don't mind.  It was a day full of scenery and no rattling in the RV.  I've posted pictures of the Sierra National Forrest and Lake Tahoe.
We stayed at Historic Camp Richardson's RV Park, hotel, restaurant, bike rental, general store and ice creamery.  I think one would get the idea, they've cornered the market at this place.  The campground was rustic with lots of tall huge pines, campfire rings and musty old bathhouses.  It was fun!  Our big story for this campground is:
The first night, Joey and I built a fire and sat around talking way into the night.  It was very dark and no visibility whatsoever.  The check in clerk at the campsight warned us of animals coming into the campsight at night forraging for food.  No matter what, don't leave out food, trash or any toiletries that smell good.  We heeded the warning, but when Joey looked up through our fire, he saw four eyes looking at us.  He grabbed my arm and said something is over there.  We both looked, to find two raccoons sitting across the fire looking at us.  I thought I heard one raccoon say to the other, when are they going to bed?  Joey clapped his hands and I screamed and it ended our introduction.  They ran away.
The next day, we rented a boat and rode around Lake Tahoe and took a bike ride around the campground.  This place reminds me of vintage camping days people experienced in the fifties.  Very scenic.  The next night was not as exiting with animals visiting the campsite, but we did help out some kids playing hide n go seek.  They couldn't find their opponents, so Joey and I would stand silently and point to the hiding places to give the smaller kids an advantage.  I bet the bigger kids never did figure out how those five and six year olds found them so quickly.  Couldn't help it - needed a Happy Kids fix and enjoyed giving the young ones a heads up.  Hope you enjoy the pics.
