Yosemite Nationa Park, Mariposa Grov of Sequoia Trees
Joey and I decided to leave the mid-section of Yosemite park and drive around the perimeter heading to the Southern entrance of the Park. It was an additional thirty miles and lots of winding, slopey roads, but well worth the effort. We got to the Mariposa Grove, just inside Yosemite Park, around 9:00 am, and we were happy to be early. This enabled us to take the tram open cart tour through the grove. It is a seven mile walk up hill and down, so we're greatful for transportation. We began the tour and were blown away at the size of the sequoia trees. Some of the sequoia trees were two thousand years old. At one thousand years old, these trees are at their peak height. As they get older, the top of the trees break off and they get shorter. As they grow from this stage, they get bigger around. Joey and I both laughed, because we humans are quite similar.
This forest is majestic and you feel that you're riding through the Land Before Time kids movie. I must apologize for all of the pictures that I downloaded, but it was so difficult to choose. I think my favorite tree was named the faithful couple tree. It was two sequoias that grew together. They survived because they were the exact same size in growth and therefore joined together. How romantic. This is a place I could visit everyday for the rest of my life. Such a wonder!!!!
Enjoy ALL of the pics
