Left Peteluma, San Francisco and traveled to the small town of Mariposa, outside of Yosemite National Park. We stayed at the KOA campground. It was rustic, but very nice.
Took a shuttle (DART) into the park from the campground the next day. We were dropped off at the Yosemite Lodge and from there we took a two hour tour of the park. It was a narrated open cab tour with a park ranger. We enjoyed all of the historical information and questions, Tom, the Ranger, answered for we tourist. After the tour, we took a hike to the falls and walked around the park until it was time to catch our shuttle back to the campground. The shuttle into the park was very convenient. There was alot of traffic in the park and very little parking. So glad we were able to see this magnificent place. Theordor Roosevelt, ditched his secret service for three days and camped in this wilderness with John Muir, the leading conservationist for the Sierra Mountains and Wilderness. It was John Muir and his campfire conversations with our nature loving President that began the National Park preservation process. Thanks be to John Muir and his love of this area. Theordore Roosevelt was quoted to say, It was the most glorious three days of his life.
Enjoy the pics
